Production is now well underway in the US on Spyglass and Paramount Pictures’ Scream 7. With cameras now rolling the film’s cast has continued to grow with the addition of two very interesting names from Scream’s past.
First up is confirmation that Scott Foley has joined the cast in an undisclosed role. The The Girls on the Bus star is no stranger to terrorising Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) however. Back in 2000 Foley appeared in Scream 3 as killer Roman Bridger. He was killed at the end of that film by Dewey (David Arquette) at Sidney’s request. But not before he could reveal he was the son of Maureen Prescott and therefore Sidney’s half-brother.
The production team is giving nothing away on Foley’s return. Simply confirming he had joined the cast in an undisclosed role. Could Bridger have faked his death one more time only to return? Only time will tell…
Even more confusing is the announcement that Matthew Lillard, one of the two original Ghostface killer’s from 1996’s first Scream, is returning. Last time we saw the horror-movie obsessed Stu, he was chasing Sidney down 29 years ago, attempting to kill her. However, she had the upper hand, dropping a TV on his head. It’s also worth remember that Stu and fellow killer Billy (Skeet Ulrich) began stabbing each other to make themselves look like the victims. How he could have survived is beyond us. But this is Scream after all…
Lillard announced his own casting with a fun video posted to Instagram which you can watch below:
Foley and Lillard join a stacked cast for Scream 7. Alongside the returning Neve Campbell is franchise staple Courteney Cox aka TV reporter Gale Weathers. They’ll be joined by Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, both of whom appeared in the last two entries in the franchise. Newcomers for this latest instalment are Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, Mckenna Grace, Sam Rechner, Anna Camp, Joel McHale and Mark Consuelos.
Kevin Williamson, franchise creator, is directing for the first time with Guy Busick (2022’s Scream and Scream VI) writing. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein (2022’s Scream and Scream VI) are producing.
Scream 7 is due to hit cinemas on February 27, 2026.
