Big news tonight from Deadline, one of DC Studios unannounced projects may have just been revealed and its comes with a pair of very big names attached to it…
The trade is reporting that director Luca Guadagnino (Queer, Challengers) is setting up shop with James Gunn and Peter Safran’s studio to mastermind a Sgt. Rock film. Not only that but Guadagnino’s star of Queer, Daniel Craig (Knives Out, the James Bond franchise) is said to be circling the titular role.
James Gunn has recently mentioned in interviews whilst promoting Creature Commandos that there are a number of unannounced DC Studios projects which are preparing to get the green light for production. could a Sgt. Rock film be one of them?
According the trade, the project is poised to be Guadagnino’s next directorial feature before Lionsgate’s previously announced American Psycho reboot. Adding weight to the theory Sgt. Rock is well into development, it’s being report that a screenplay by Challengers and Queer scribe Justin Kuritzkes is in great shape.
It’s understood that no deals have been inked yet between DC Studios, Craig and Guadagnino at the time of writing.
