The second film in DC Studios upcoming slate, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, has reportedly found its villain. Overnight the Hollywood trades have reported that Rust & Bone actor Matthias Schoenaerts has landed the role which is most likely Krem of the Yellow Hills from the original comic book.
In the comic, Krem kills the family of a young alien girl causing her to reach out to Supergirl to aid in her revenge mission. Supergirl finds herself drawn into the conflict when he injures superpet, Krypto. The book, masterminded by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, is a departure from the normal superhero fare and likens itself more to a sci-fi epic making it a unique choice for James Gunn’s burgeoning multimedia universe.
Woman of Tomorrow will be the second DC Studios’ project to begin production following Gunn’s own Superman which is set to release in July 2025. The film is eying a January start here in the U.K. and has a June 26, 2026, release date. Craig Gillespie is directing for DC Studios with breakout House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock leading as Kara Zor-el aka Supergirl.
