Godzilla x King: The New Empire is now officially the highest grossing movie in the MonsterVerse franchise after grossing over $569 million worldwide, and it didn’t take long for Warner Bros. and Legendary to leap on that success. We’ve known for some time that a new MonsterVerse movie is in early development, but we received a very exciting update regarding the 6th installment. A new MonsterVerse movie will be stampeding its way onto the big screen on March 26th, 2027.
With another season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters on the way, it’s safe to say that the MonsterVerse is thriving wonderfully.
Now, we don’t know much about this upcoming movie. Considering how The New Empire was very much Kong’s movie, it would be nice to see Godzilla take the limelight alongside a well-established villain. What we do know is that Shang-Chi: Legend of The Ten Rings and Spider-Man: Across The SpiderVerse‘s Dave Callaham will be penning the script, and Grant Sputore, the director of I Am Mother, will be helming the blockbuster.
The actual release date is quite far away, but now that it has been confirmed we may actually start receiving some additional updates sooner rather than later. Right now, we don’t even know if it’s another team up movie or a solo movie. Given the success of both The New Empire and Godzilla vs Kong, it’s very likely that Godzilla and Kong will be forced to work together once more. Only time will tell.
