With how Transformers: Rise of the Beasts ended, we’re not exactly surprised, but we can now actually confirm that a new live-action Transformers movie is on the way, but this time… there’s a twist. For this new feature film, the Transformers will be teaming up with G.I. Joe.
Following the tease at the end of Rise of the Beasts, which revealed that Anthony Ramos’ Noah was being interviewed to join the top-secret military organisation, we all knew that some form of crossover was on the horizon. At this year’s CinemaCon, Paramount revealed that the next installment will see the Transformers cross paths with members of G.I. Joe. On top of that, attendees also got a first look at the animated prequel film Transformers One.
Not much is known about the film right now. With Rise of the Beasts focusing on the arrival of Unicron, this sequel could explore his comeback. Let’s face it, when dealing with a threat like Unicron, the Autobots are going to need all the help they can get. What we do know is that Steven Spielberg will be an executive producer on the project and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy will serve as producers.
The film currently doesn’t have a director, however we would love to see Steven Caple Jr. back in the chair. He really handled these characters with care and set up quite an exciting future for the Cybertronians.
As always, we’ll be sure to keep you posted on all of the upcoming Transformers news. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled because our first Transformers One trailer is supposedly imminent.
