Sad news for Bat-fans today. It’s been confirmed that Warner Bros. is reshuffling its upcoming release schedule with one of our most anticipated movies, The Batman 2, moving back by an entire year to October 2026.
Originally due to release on October 3, 2025, The Batman 2 will now release on October 6, 2026. Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, starring Christian Bale, will take over the October 3 release date. In other release date news, Barry Levinson’s gangster pic Alto Nights is being delayed from November 24, 2024, to March 21, 2025; and Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled, star-studded event pic will release on August 8, 2025.
The sequel to 2022’s The Batman is once again set to be directed by Matt Reeves, who is also currently hard at work on the script. Recent comments from members of the cast led us to believe that the script wasn’t yet complete so this move is a sign that the studio is giving Reeves the time he needs to complete the job at his own pace.
In our ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review of The Batman Neil said “Matt Reeves has created the definitive live-action Dark Knight. The World’s Greatest Detective may have met his match in Paul Dano’s Riddler but everything in The Batman adds up Bruce Wayne’s most bombastic big-screen outing to-date. “
Written and directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson in the title role, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton.
