Artist Lucas Meyer Joins Writer Tom Taylor on DC’s TITANS

New preview at issue #9 of DC's Titans introduces the series' new ongoing artist.

DC has announced artist Lucas Meyer will be joining Writer Tom Taylor as the new series artist for Titans. Meyer will make his debut in issue #9 as the series continues the saga of the ‘Dark-Winged Queen’. Issue #9 is currently slated to debut in comic book stores in April 2024.

The Titans are not only facing the fallout of Beast Boy’s sacrifice and a smear campaign from the government, but the hidden threat of a Raven, now allied with Trigon. Meyer is no stranger to DC, the Titans, or big bombastic events, as he’s collaborated with Taylor before, and on other DC titles. In addition to providing art for Titans: Beast World #4, Meyer provided art for 2022’s Titans United: Bloodpact, based on the HBO Max series, in addition to Knight Terrors: Punchline, as well as providing art for Taylor’s DCeased: War of the Undead Gods.

“I’ve been a fan of Tom’s work long before I started working for DC,” said Meyer. “I was already following his work on Injustice, Suicide Squad, Nightwing, Dark Knights of Steel, and the original DCeased; it was incredibly surreal for me to actually collaborate with him on DCeased: War of the Undead Gods.”

Following the events of both Titans: Beast World and Titans #8, Amanda Waller has condemned the Titans and publicly blamed them for a world-wide crisis. While many still see the Titans as heroes, others now see them as a danger to all. Can the Titans battle misinformation and fight for a world that hates them, as a potential threat looms within their own ranks?

“About halfway through issue four of Titans: Beast World, Tom and DC approached me about being the ongoing artist for Titans,” Meyer continued. “Even though I’d drawn Titans-focused books in the past, I was a little nervous, because I’d be following in the wake of Nicola Scott’s incredible work, and adding to the legacy of artists like George Pérez, Nick Cardy, and so many other spectacular artists that have contributed to the history of these characters I love so much.” “Getting to be part of this is really something wonderful; Tom outdoes himself with every issue, reading his scripts and creating art for them has been both challenging and exciting!”

Titans #8 (“The Dark-Winged Queen,” Part Two) is available for pre-order now, and arrives at participating comic book shops Tuesday, March 19. The issue features a main cover by Chris Samnee, with variant covers by Joshua “Sway” Swaby, W. Scott Forbes and Yanick Paquette. Visit your local shop for more details and pre-ordering.
