Cassian Andor himself Diego Luna has confirmed that filming on the second season of Andor has officially wrapped. Acting as a prequel to the insanely popular Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the show follows Andor as he gradually shifts from a petty thief into a rebel spy. Unfortunately, this will be the final season of Andor. However, considering how great the first season was and where the series is heading, two seasons seems like a perfect amount to flesh Andor’s character. We won’t lie… it’s definitely going to be hard saying goodbye again.
This final season is supposedly set to lead directly into the events of Rogue One. Wouldn’t it be great to see Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso one more time?
Taking to Instagram, Luna confirmed the news with a touching message thanking the huge cast and crew.
Check it out below:
“Today is the last day of filming Andor. I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work. More than 700 people have worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience. See you soon.”
While filming is indeed over, it’s still difficult to tell when we’ll actually be able to watch the final season. Some reports seem to suggest that season two could air in 2025, which seems likely considering The Acolyte is now scheduled to air this Summer. Hopefully Disney and Lucasfilm provide us with an update, but there is still a lot of work to be done on this second season.
As always, we’ll keep you updated on all things Star Wars. For now, you can catch up on all of the latest news from across the galaxy right here.
