The hunt is on once again. Director Dan Trachtenberg and 20th Century Fox are collaborating again to bring audiences a brand new Predator movie. However, this particular movie will not be a sequel to the Emmy nominated Prey, which came out in 2022.
Rather than being set in the 1700s, this new movie, currently titled Badlands, is said to be taking place sometime in the future. Plot details are very scarce at the moment, but like Prey, this feature will centre on a female lead.
Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison are writing the script together. Aison’s previous work includes Prey and the upcoming Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is in such a good place in terms of production that filming is actually due to start in July.
If Badlands is anything like Prey, then we are in for an absolute treat, especially with Trachtenberg at the centre. Prey really reinvigorated the franchise, and with this new lease on life there’s an opportunity to explore brand new avenues like Prey did. Hopefully now that the announcement is out in the open, we may start receiving some exciting updates. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you all posted.
