Review
As Superman still lays on his death bed perilously close to the end Lois makes an emotional plea for him to wake up but at this point we are unsure if the plea has even been heard. The Justice League must hold it together to stop this monstrous attack on Earth. They now know the Dreamstone is missing and the finger is pointed firmly in the direction of Toyman, the Justice League must act fast and find out how these colossal monsters entered this universe and exactly what for? Well the people that have the answers are the Legion of Doom and mainly Toymaster utilising the Dreamstone for his own fiendish gains.
The fight continues underwater as Aquaman and the others come across a sea creature bigger than anything they’ve ever seen or come across before. Working together to formulate some sort of plan that is until movement in the water begins to attract the wrong sort of attention as the Metropolis Monster arrives on the scene.
The Justice League are struggling against the shear force of what is in front of them the only choice and hope Aquaman and the team have is to activate the fail safe but this could too cause catastrophic consequences, but unleashing this could be the only way!
This series excites me, every issue it continues to get better and better and the story develops. Brian Buccellato perfectly crafts a story that houses so many colossal characters but no one seems out of place, each hero commands their own part in the book creating a natural progression for the story, but at this point all hope does seem to be deminishing.
Drew Johnson and Christian Duce combine to provide the artwork for the book that gives a dramatic energy to the story that explodes on the pages. The underwater action sequences are just perfection with the colossal battle perfectly captured, we are taking masterpiece levels here.
Verdict
A breathtaking beginning to the new year, incredible stuff. A book full of impacting story and master artwork, this is a guaranteed. If this is the benchmark for comics this year then we are in for a treat.
