Awards season continues to roll on. With the Emmy’s coming up this week, all eyes will be on the biggest night in the TV calendar. But last night it was the turn of the Critics Choice Awards to honour the best and brightest in the worlds of both film and television.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer was once again triumphant, taking home the Best Picture and Best Director awards amongst eight trophies. Its box office buddy, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, came in second, taking home six trophies including Best Comedy and Best Song for Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken”.
Once again the TV categories were dominated by The Bear, Netflix’s Beef and the now concluded Succession. There was upset for one of our favourites however. Celia Rose Gooding had been nominated for her role as Nyota Uhura in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds but lost out to Elizabeth Debicki for her role as Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown.
