Gunslinger Spawn #26 is published by Image Comics, written by Todd McFarlane, illustrated by Dexter Soy, coloured by Ivan Nunes and lettered by Tom Orzechowski.

Issue #26 is available 22nd November 2023 either directly from Image Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Gunslinger is in HELL on a mission to kill Sinn! Will this put an end to the Gunslinger’s quest for Vengeance? Only time will tell.

    Review

In this issue we are taken to the heart of Gunslinger we go into a little more detail as to what makes this Hellspawn tick, what drives him to his actions. The harrowing flashbacks shows torture both physically and mentally as not only was Gunslinger held captive and tortured for his information he was also captured within his mind as the blame for his sister’s death takes hold and the guilt begins to turn into furious vengeance.

Hate and revenge are powerful drivers and are ones that has turned what was once a normal run of the mill male into a Hellspawn hell bent on getting the justice he deserves to have and there is only one form of justice a Hellspawn knows and one thing is for sure that blood will shed and heads will roll until Gunslinger feels he can put his demons to rest.

As much as I am a big fan of the Spawn multiverse and enjoy most of what comes from it this particular issue of this arc seams to have grabbed me in a different way. Todd McFarlane has expertly written a unique story that gives the Gunslinger character a sort of vulnerability, we see that the Hellspawn isn’t just a vehicle of death they are invincible so seeing a different side of this character is an intriguing eye opener.

Once again I was blown away by the artwork, each panel perfectly depicted the hard hitting story. Dexter Soy uses his talents to portray this beaten being showing Gunslinger at his most vulnerable but also you can see the return which literally gave me chills.

It feels as though Gunslinger is getting closer to the goal he is looking for, I just wish that when he is there it’s the right path for him to be stepping on as history may be coming back for Gunslinger.

    Verdict

A emotionally dark issue that shows a more personal side to the Gunslinger character and the reasons for why he is chasing this vengeance. As usual the Gunslinger Spawn titles are hard hitting and graphically amazing, you will not want to miss this.
