Justice League Vs Godzilla Vs Kong #1 is published by DC Comics, written by Brian Buccellato and illustrated by Drew Johnson and Christian Duce.

Issue #1 is available 18th October 2023 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

The cataclysmic crossover event of the year is here as the DC Universe clashes with Legendary’s Monsterverse in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong.

Clark Kent is enjoying a night off with a very important dinner planned with his girlfriend, Lois Lane, when the entire city shudders under the weight of the monstrous Godzilla, who emerges from the bay!

What started as a routine clash between the Justice League and the Legion of Doom takes a dangerous turn when the wall between worlds is breached… with Godzilla, Kong and the Monsterverse emerging on DC’s Earth! What ensues will be a brawl of unprecedented scale and destruction.

    Review

This colossal crossover event starts with a rather serene moment as Superman takes a rare night off to have a romantic moment with Lois on top of the Daily Planet building, there’s a question he is wanting to ask. But as is normal life in the DC Universe it doesn’t stay serene for long as a huge rumble interrupts proceedings, what could the rumble be?

The rest of the Justice League are monitoring the situation as they prepare for temporary life without Superman as he plans his special time away, but the villains of DC Universe unfortunately won’t take a holiday so someone has to be around to clear up. The Legion of Doom are on the hunt for weapons of distruction to take down the Justice League forever, but thanks to the foolish and clumsy actions of Toyman transported the Legion to another dimension, in normal terms this would’ve been a catestrophic problem but it may well play right into the hands of the Legion of Doom as Toyman finds something else that could well take out the Justice League once and for all.

The Justice League have a tough job on their hands to convince Superman to stay away and enjoy his rare night off but they may well just have alot more about to land in their hands.

There are multiple layers to this book as Brian Buccellato writes two separate paths that the two groups go on then brings them back together seemlessly. At first we have the Justice League helping Superman getting his rare night off then on the flip side you have the Legion of Doom trying to once again take down the Justice League and quite possibly the universe. At first when I read the title I was a little confused as to how the crossover would actually work as you are smashing together three of the most iconic names in comics to form one epic crossover that just works. The book is written in such a way that it leaves you on separate cliff hangers and for different reasons which is a genius stroke in terms of writing as it makes the reader want more.

The artwork of the book certainly gives an impact all three of the iconic names are brought together in a book which comes across as a visual masterpiece. The team of Drew Johnson and Christian Duce combine to bring this amazing artwork, the action packed storyline bursts through each panel with all the action sequences perfectly depicted creating the perfect impact for the reader to enjoy and it most definitely is an enjoyment.

    Verdict

Three iconic names come together for a monumental comic crossover that explodes infront of your very eyes. The different veins of story seemlessly entwine to bring a story that will leave you begging for more.
