Review
In this collected issue we see the return of Joanna Tan forced back into action from her self imposed retirement from the agency. Something is brewing, murders are happening and the fingers are beginning to point in Joanna’s direction and it doesn’t look good for her as each incident has Joanna’s written all over it. Joanna must find who is doing all this fast and put a stop to it so she can clear her name, but it isn’t going to be easy as it looks like someone Joanna’s past is coming back to settle old scores. The intense car and mouse story explodes on the page as Joanna fights against her past and time to get the answers she needs and clear her name.
I am relatively new to the Gun Honey series but this volume had me hooked, the writing from Charles Ardai brings an intensity to the story. Each panel took me on a breathtaking journey, with an intense story that glues you to the pages instantly. I was honestly surprised how much I enjoyed the story which is similar to James Bond but alot more brash, which is most definitely my style.
The artwork of this book is shall we say “graphic” and leaves very little to the imagination but it is done in a tasteful way so the book doesn’t come across tacky. Ang Hor Keng provides the illustrations that adds an injection of intensity to the book showing off the curvaceous heroine Joanna Tan to the best of her abilities, if the James Bond character was ever going to be female then Joanna Tan is definitely the woman for the job.
As a whole I would say that I have definitely got the bug for one of the most exciting series from Titan Comics and look forward to see the many stories and follow ups from this particular multiverse of story arcs.
Verdict
An intense story that pulls you in from the off, gives you everything you’d want from a comic and a whole lot more. If you like your books with plenty of action, knock out punches on every page and certainly “knock out) a definite recommendation to readers who like a bit of action.
Also special thanks to Titan Comics for sending out a physical copy of this collected issue.
