Finally. After an agonizing wait, we finally received our first chunk of gameplay for Insomniac Games‘ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. During PlayStation’s epic showcase a bunch of new games were teased and revealed. As the showcase ended, a wave of fear washed over us… Did they forget about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2? Of course they didn’t/ They were just saving the best for last.
The lengthy gameplay reveal threw everything it could at us. From Kraven the Hunter, to Dr. Connors’ Lizard. But that wasn’t the biggest reveal. Now, ever since the post credit scene in the first game and the very first trailer for Spider-Man 2, we knew that Venom would be involved. What we didn’t expect was a full 10-minute sequence showing us Peter causing chaos in the iconic symbiote suit.
We’ve seen Peter in action before, but we’ve never seen him like this. The gameplay showed us a more aggressive version of Spider-Man. Our friendly neighborhood webslinger always knew when to pull back his punches… He seems to have forgotten that now because he doesn’t hold back at all.
Spidey isn’t the only one with some additional upgrades. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will allow you to play as both Peter and Miles, giving players a wider range of playing styles. You’ll be introduced to Web Wings, Web Lines, Thunder Bursts, an array of deadly Symbiote abilities, and many more exciting gadgets and skills. New York won’t know what hit it. However, players will want to tread carefully. While New York has been opened up to new possibilities, Peter and Miles have never faced a challenge such as this, and this gameplay only offers a small glimpse.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch in Fall 2023.
