Harrower #4 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Justin Jordan, illustrated by Brahm Revel and lettered by Pat Brosseau.

Issue #4 is available 24th May 2023 either directly from BOOM! Studios online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Every secret comes to light as Jessa is confronted with the horrible truth of the figures behind everything! As she faces the Harrower in a final showdown, her fate seems inevitable. Can she escape becoming what she fears most?

    Review

In this final issue the story of the Harrower becomes even darker as we find out that all was not how it originally seemed. It turns out that the town needed the Harrower more than we could’ve imagined, the terror and fear that ripped through this quaint little town is more powerful than we once thought the origins of which dates back hundreds of years, the Harrower isn’t one being it is bigger than that it is more of a movement eating away at the very heart of the community.

The writing of this book and series has been strong and had a certain power to it that captivated me from the first page. At first I thought it could well be another generic hack and slash horror that we’ve seen so many times before, but thanks to Justin Jordan we were given a far more deeper story that was written in such a way that each word created a distinct power that drew the reader deep into the pages.

For a powerful story you need illustrations to match and Brahm Revel definitely stepped up to that mark, the artwork was graphic but the blood and gore was in all the right places and actually added to the impact of the story rather than just put there for show.

    Verdict

A series I enjoyed more than I expected to, although I was looking forward to a standard hack and slash I was treat to a far deeper story that had a more deep rooted energy that captured my conscious and refused to let go. Without doubt one of the best series so far this year and well worth picking up, you won’t be disappointed.
