Review
In the penultimate issue of this story arc Helpless is now on the loose and certainly isn’t living up to his name, the original plan of harvesting the human race and creating a new super race hasn’t exactly gone to plan as the “experiment” starts the fight back.
Helpless is on a bloodthirsty rampage ripping through the ship taking out everything that stands in his way, the General and his army are finding out the hard way there’s only so much a person can take before they snap and Helpless has definitely snapped.
B’Tay and V’lmann are trying to find their way home through various host bodies, B’Tay has taken the form of a crocodile whilst this probably is a powerful choice that power can be dangerous if it’s not contained as B’Tay quickly finds out, V’lmann must convince her father to contain his animal aggression and use the body for what it was originally meant for and that is merely a mode of transportation. As the two and Helpless cross paths they feel a sense of relief at the sight of a familiar face, however something dangerous is lurking in the shadows.
This story arc has taken it’s time to gather pace but I am glad that I have stuck with it as this issue is definitely the best so far, Alex Paknadel has written a story that has the potential to grow into something or an epic scale, each character has been given the chance to organically grow which in turn has helped the story grow at a good speed allowing the reader to grasp the full story.
Once again Casper Wijngaard elevates the book with some stunning artwork that really makes the book stand out with his unique art style I really enjoyed reading through the book allowing my imagination to become entwined with the story.
Verdict
A story that started slow but has started to reach it’s peak, an epic story that has organically grown and built a level of anticipation that has left me excited to see the final issue.
