Horror Set to Overwhelm the DC Universe This Summer in KNIGHT TERRORS Event
DC Comics has announced a brand new event, dubbed KNIGHT TERRORS, which will take over the DC Universe this summer.

Terror, horror and manga will be coming to the DC Universe this summer as the veteran published announces its latest event, Knight Terrors. The announcement came during DC Comics’ presentation at yesterday’s ComicPro event, giving further context to the unfolding Dawn of DC timeline.
Knight Terrors is being masterminded by Joshua Williamson, the writer behind the recent Dark Crisis event. DC also announced an exciting new update to its partnership with Japanese publisher Kodansha in which three of its manga comics featuring DC characters – Superman vs. Meshi, Batman: Justice Buster, and Joker: One Operation Joker – will be released in English for the first time. The Manga titles will be available in a serialized format digitally-first as an exclusive for DC Universe Infinite subscribers and then will be in physical collections later this year.
Kicking off this July, Knight Terrors is a miniseries in which Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman find the body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice. Their investigation takes them past the land of the living, beyond the land of the dead, into a realm of nightmares . The only way to save the world is to call for the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman. Joining Williamson on the book are artists Howard Porter (The Flash), Guillem March (The Joker), and more.
“I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares,” said Joshua Williamson. “It’s a fun and horrific event that brings together all of the heroes and villains of DC, along with some surprises!”
The horror-focused event will take over the DC publishing line in July and August and will feature multiple two-issue miniseries from superstar creative teams yet to be announced. Each of the miniseries will feature a DC Super Hero or Super-Villain confronting their worst nightmares in a “Nightmare Realm.” The Superheroes better be careful, as whatever happens to them in the Nightmare Realm will also be reflected in the Waking World.
Legendary comics artist Chris Bachalo (Doctor Strange, Deadpool) is returning to DC for the first time in over 20 years and teaming up with Williamson and Porter to help give fans an early look at Knight Terrors on Free Comic Book Day, May 6, with the Dawn of DC Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition. After a long night of crime-fighting with his father, Batman, Damian Wayne sleeps. But horrors invade his teenage dreams. Damian has seen a lot, but there is something different about this nightmare.
DC will be bringing the incredibly popular Kodansha series of manga books featuring DC characters—Superman vs. Meshi, Batman: Justice Buster, and Joker: One Operation Joker—to the United States with English translations as both serialized digital chapters and collected trade paperbacks. Each title will first launch exclusively on DC Universe Infinite, and the platform will be updated with a new manga-friendly reader. DC will release collected editions of each title that will be available at participating comic book shops, bookstores, and mass-market retailers this fall. DC Universe Infinite is not available in all territories and is not intended for children.
Joker: One Operation Joker is the Joker like you’ve never seen him before…as a single father?! After a fateful encounter with Batman that results in the Dark Knight de-aging to a baby, Joker takes it upon himself to raise the child into the crusader of justice! But does the Clown Prince of Crime really understand what it means to be Batman—or, more importantly, what it means to raise a baby all by yourself? Joker: One Operation Joker is written by Satoshi Miyagawa (Uchuu Senkan Tiramisu) with art by Keisuke Gotou.
In Batman: Justice Buster, Gotham City has been under the protection of Batman for only a short amount of time, but since the vigilante’s appearance, crime has changed. It’s gotten more bold, more destructive. As Batman tries to rise to meet these new threats, he develops a computer system, ROBIN, to help him analyze and subdue the rising criminal tide and hopefully one day put an end to crime in Gotham. Batman: Justice Buster is written and illustrated by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (Ultraman).
It’s hungry work being Superman! That’s why every day for lunch in Superman vs. Meshi, Superman makes a quick stop over in Japan to try a new chain restaurant. Whether it’s a hearty bowl of curry or conveyor-belt sushi, the Man of Steel loves to indulge in the delectable delicacies the country has to offer. He’ll even share a meal with the other members of the Justice League from time to time in the hopes of showing them an incredible culinary experience. Superman vs. Meshi is written by Satoshi Miyagawa with art by Kai Kitago.
