Autobots, we have a transmission directly from Teletraan I. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts may feel like a century away, but it’s going to creep up on us very quickly. It feels like it has been quite some time since we’ve had something Trasformers-related to look forward to, and as a fellow fan, we could not be happier. There’s a lot to look forward to regarding the world of Transformers, and it seems like we’re getting something new each week. We’ve had new action figures announced, and whisphers of a Super Bowl TV spot. As the release draws nearer, we’re certain that we’ll be bombarded with even more Transformers goodness, and we’re ready for it.
This week brought a very surprising action figure announcement. Each Transformers film introduces a big bad villain, and this is the 2nd film (Bumblebee being the first) of the franchise that appears to be steering away from the Decepticon leader Megatron- although we have our own thoughts on that, but that’ll have to wait. The major villain for Rise of the Beasts is a Terrorcon called Scourge, who is being voiced by Peter Dinklage.
While the Terrorcon briefly appeared in the first trailer, Hasbro’s Studio Series figure gives us our best look yet. With an alt-mode very reminiscent of Megatron’s Dark of the Moon truck, Scourge is sure to strike fear into the sparks of all of the Autobots. Wielding a huge claw and double-bladed sword, Scourge is unlike any of the evil villain’s Optimus and Bumblebee have faced before.

Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce whole new breeds of Transformers – the Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.
The upcoming sequel from Paramount Pictures is directed by Steven Caple Jr and stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, and Luna Lauren Velez. In addition to that, the legend that is Peter Cullen will be back to voice the great Optimus Prime alongside Ron Perlman who will voice Optimus Primal, a transforming gorilla and leader of the Maximals. The cast also includes Peter Dinklage (Scourge), Liza Koshy (Arcee), John DiMaggio (Stratosphere), David Sobolov (Rhinox/Battletrap), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (Nightbird), Cristo Fernández (Wheeljack), and Tobe Nwigwe (Reek), Michelle Yeoh (Airazor), and Pete Davidson (Mirage).
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be unleashed in cinemas on June 9th, 2023. What did you think of the trailer? Be sure to let us know in the comments. Don’t forget to check out more from the world of Transformers right here.
