Just 3 weeks ago, we reported that The Way of Water had made $1 billion. It wasn’t a surprise, we just never expected it to make this much money in such a short amount of time. Once it hit $1 billion… We knew $2 billion was a reality. It’s evident that the sequel is still full of momentum, especially when you consider that the next big blockbuster release is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is out on February 17th. What this movie has been able to achieve is absolutely outstanding, and we’d like to extend a huge congratulations to the entire cast and crew.
While The Way of Water definitely won’t surpass its predecessor, we can definitely see the film bumping up to fourth place in the coming days- with Infinity War being only $25 million ahead of The Way of Water.
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
