Review
This story will be of a familiar tone to the millions of Doctor Who fans however it is told with a different twist, a story that turns at every corner having you doubt your every thought.
The Doctor has been sent to eliminate the impending threat to Gallifrey, visiting the Yime Lords to gather the intel is proving difficult as they are holding something back which puts them in more and more danger, the Doctor and helper Teslo are rapidly running out of time, maybe the questions should be asked a little closer to home and a bit higher up the food chain, there are things that aren’t being said and not everyone is telling the truth.
This the first time I have come across the work of Jody Houser and I would say it was a great introduction, the story itself was full bodied and gave me everything I would’ve wanted the story pulls you in different directions as you uncover the deception that threatens the very core, the long told story of the Time Lords may well be set to change forever.
The illustrations of the book were captivating, Roberta Ingranata and Warnia K Sahadewa do a great job blending together mystical art with dramatic darkened tones that adds a deeper layer to the story and brings it to life.
I personally enjoyed the journey the book to me on, a story that had me questioning my ideas throughout and left me intrigued for what comes next.
Verdict
An intriguing story with twists galore. It’s a dark story of corruption and betrayal that unearths a different viewpoint on a very familiar world.
