It’s been 17 years since Warner Bros. Pictures made a splash at the annual Super Bowl event in the US. But now the studio has quietly confirmed it’s making a return in 2023 with a brand new look at The Flash.
WB last appeared in 2006 with promos for 16 Blocks and V For Vendetta, but now it seems the studio is so confident in The Flash that it’s ready to take the plunge once again for Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, February 12, 2023. The trailer is than expected to run in cinemas ahead of Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantamania.
It’s been over a year since we last saw new footage from Andy Muschietti’s DC directorial debut. A short preview was released during the FanDome event in 2021, back when The Flash was due for a theatrical release in 2022.
Here’s a reminder of that huge first look we got back at DC FanDome 2021:
Even now very little is known about the storyline of The Flash. A recently updated synopsis teases that Scarlet Speedster “pushes the limits of his superpowers in the DC Super-Hero’s first-ever standalone feature film”. Not a lot to go on is it? Hopefully the upcoming spot will lift the lid on the hotly anticipated release.
Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash stars Ezra Miller, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, Ante Traue and Michael Keaton.
Warner Bros. Pictures releases The Flash exclusively in UK cinemas on June 16, 2023.
