Earlier this year, DC announced it would be returning to one of its most legendary storylines in time for its 30th anniversary. Tomorrow The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special will hit comic book stores and digital platforms featuring new stories from a blockbuster roster of creative teams.
Featuring stories by Dan Jurgens, writer of the original Death of Superman arc, Kerry Ordway, Roger Stern and Louise Simonson, the book looks set to dive deeper in to events which took place around the time that Clark was facing Doomsday.
The book features a stunning main cover (below) from Jurgens, Brett Breeding and Brad Anderson. Variant covers come from Jim Lee and Alex Sinclair, Dan Mora, Ivan Reis, Danny Miki and Brad Anderson, Francesco Mattino and Rafael Sarmento.
The official synopsis for the book reads:
30 years ago, the unthinkable happened. The Man of Steel died. After sacrificing himself to stop the unstoppable global threat, Doomsday, Metropolis and the rest of the DC Universe mourned the loss of their greatest hero. To mark this monumental moment in comics, DC has reunited the complete creative team behind the original event for four brand-new stories. Led by Dan Jurgens and Brett Breeding, the special kicks off with a new Superman story and villain…DOOMBREAKER! Followed by a series of short stories revisiting some of Superman’s greatest allies and exclusive pinups done by some of comics’ greatest artistic talent including LEE WEEKS, GABRIEL RODRIGUEZ, BILL SIENKIEWICZ, and WALTER SIMONSON.
As well as that stunning wraparound cover, we’ve also got a first look at a handful of pages from the issue which you can check out right here. Be warned, there could be spoilers ahead!
The Death of Superman 30th Anniversary Special #1 hits comics book stores and digital on November 8, 2022.
