Review
In this issue we see the paths of Regan and Vanessa although separate are still connected via their special connection, Vanessa retraces the steps of the original five to take it back to where it all began but as much as Regan wants to pull herself away from her past she will always be pulled back in as long as she has this connection. Hannah is still out for cold blooded revenge but the Reverend may have different plans altogether for Hannah, although she seems on control she must be careful as I don’t believe his intentions are the best.
Each issue Cullen Bunn blows me away, I finish each book with a “wow”, one simple word that pretty much sums it all up. The Basilisk story is one of my favourites in comics at the moment, it started off slow but them had evolved into a horrific thrill ride that I never want to get off, I have said this before about another of my favourite comic series and I’ll say it again about this one I would genuinely love to see this series on the screen in some capacity be it film or series it really is that strong.
Jonas Scharf again puts his unique stamp on the book with the illustrations that really are synonymous with this series in terms of style, the mix of realism and dark graphic images really adds more to the fantastic written story.
Verdict
At this point I feel that Basilisk is an automatic 5⭐️ rated book. Each issue continues to grow and evolve into a dark thrilling read that any horror fan would love to read. Cullen Bunn has created a horror masterpiece and long may this arc continue.
