According to Deadline, breakout star Lee Jung-jae who starred in Netflix’s Squid Game has joined the Star Wars universe. Lee will be joining the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ series The Acolyte alongside Amanda Steinberg who is set to star alongside Lee, as well as Jodie Turner Smith who was confirmed to be joining the series just last week.
As of right now, not much is known about The Acolyte. But that’s part of the fun, isn’t it? All we know is that this series will take viewers across the galaxy and will dive into the secrets surrounding the Dark Side. So when is this series set? Well, according to Disney the series will be set during the final days of the High Republic. Considered to be the Golden Age of the Jedi, this long period of time saw the Jedi at the peak of their power, while the Sith were but passing shadows.
It’s safe to assume that the characters in The Acolyte will be Sith enthusiasts, or simply individuals that seek to learn more about the Dark Side. Either way, this series could be a great history lesson for us fans. While the Sith and Dark Side have been with us since the beginning… We haven’t really had a good opportunity to explore the Dark Side- whether it be the abilities, teaching methods, or even some of the older lords of darkness.
The Acolyte is being helmed by Leslye Headland who will direct, write, produce, and act as the series’ show runner. The series is expected to being production in London later this fall. Once production starts, it’s possible that we’ll receive a bit more information. However, as with most of the Star Wars projects, details are being kept well under wraps. All we can do is wait…
Regardless, we’ll be sure to keep you posted, so keep your eyes peeled for more. Are you excited for The Acolyte? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
