Some sad news for Superman & Lois fans this morning as The CW series has lost one of its core cast. Overnight it has been confirmed that Jordan Elsass, known to fans as Jonathan Kent, has existed the series ahead of the production start on season 3.
Deadline broke the news as it appeared Elsass had failed to arrive at the Vancouver set for filming to begin. Initial reports were confused as to whether Elsass had been let go from the series or had chosen to exit the role of Jonathan.
“Jordan Elsass has notified the Studio that he will not be returning to Superman & Lois for season three due to personal reasons. The role of Jonathan Kent will be recast,” the series producer Warner Bros. TV said in a statement Tuesday night.
Elsass and his team are yet to comment on the news. As per the report, sources state that the actor has been dealing with serious personal issues, some of them possibly related to mental health, that the series’ producers became aware of.
Questions have also been raised over his Covid vaccination status. Canada has a policy about not allowing unvaccinated people come into the country. Back in February Elsass shared a quickly-deleted Instagram story questioning the efficacy of vaccines. It’s also understood he used an exception during filming last season to avoid being vaccinated.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Clark and Lois. Also starring are Emmanuelle Chriqui as Clark’s ex-girlfriend, Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Lana’s husband, Kyle Cushing. Dylan Walsh will portray Lois’ father, General Sam Lane. Jordan Elsass and Alexander Garfin also co-star in the series as Superman and Lois’ sons, Jonathan and Jordan Kent.
