Magic #17 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Jed Mackay and illustrated by Ig Guara.

Issue #17 is available from 3rd August 2022 either directly from BOOM! Studios online ornfrom your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Despite Ravnica seemingly unreachable, Niko Aris, the Fatescorn, arrives with the help of an ally. But Niko still has to find a way to Kaya, Vraska, and Ral, all while remaining hidden from a masterful enemy, one who will crush the entire multiverse if their terrible goals are realized.

    Review

In this issue we see the band of Planeswalkers taking their plot to finally enter Ravinca to the implementation stage. Niko Aris, the Fatescorn is the one who has been given the task of infiltrating the once peaceful plane making contact with original planeswalkers Kaya, Vraska, and Ral is of the upmost importance. Going up against someone like Tezzeret is risky to say the least and could prove costly if suspects the Planeswalkers are trying to get behind him, he’s evil in the normal sense but when angry he’s formidable.

The writing of this issue is once again intense, Jed Mackay provides a dark stealth storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat, as much as I enjoyed the original arc I am finding this arc more inmersive and enjoy seeing how the characters evolve individually but also as a team.

Ig Guara is one of the best illustrators in the comic industry and for me this issue shows off his skills at there true potential, each page although dark and dramatic oozes that magical charm we have come to expect from a Magic comic.

    Verdict

A storyline that is getting more and more intense as the issues pass, incredible writing partnered with excellent visuals a fully recommended read.
