Plenty more Marvel news coming from San Diego Comic Con last night as Marvel Studios held its first ever animated panel in Hall H. We’ve got some hot news on X-Men ’97 coming your way later, but first we’re taking a look at two other Marvel animated series.
First up, it was confirmed that season 2 of What If…? will debut in early 2023. The second season is confirmed to feature another Captain Carter episode, this time she will be taking on the HYDRA Stomper. It was also confirmed that What If…? variant is not the same as the one we saw wiped out by Wanda in Multiverse of Madness earlier this year.
Other stories set to feature in the second season include Odin squaring off with The Mandarin, and a story revolving around Cate Blanchett’s fan-favourite Thor: Ragnarok villain Hela.
It was also confirmed that a third season of What If…? is currently in development.
The studio then went on to disclose a lot more detail on the upcoming Marvel Zombies series. It was confirmed the series will be set on the same world as the What If…? episode. It will also be rated TV-MA in the US which is the equivalent of an R rating at the cinema.
Total Film were on hand to snap some photos of the character designs shown off to attendees in Hall H including villains Wanda, Hawkeye, Captain America, Abomination, Ghost and Captain Marvel. On the heroic side are fan-favourite Jimmy Woo, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian, Shang-Chi, Katy, and Death Dealer.
No news yet on when Marvel Zombies will be hitting our screens. Stay tuned for more Marvel Animation news later today!
