We had a feeling there was more going on with DC Comics’ Dark Crisis than meets the eye. Turns out we were right to suspect! During a panel during today’s first full day of activities at San Diego Comic Con, it was revealed that the Joshua Williamson crafted event has a connection to a legendary storyline from the past.
Fans in attendance at today’s DC’s Dark Crisis panel at San Diego Comic-Con were treated to an exclusive reveal of the full true name of the 2022 event: Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. The blockbuster series from writer Joshua Williamson and artist Daniel Sampere was revealed to be a sequel to the original groundbreaking Crisis on Infinite Earths by George Pérez and Marv
Panelists Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere, Jeremy Adams, Meghan Fitzmartin, Tom King and Ram V were joined by moderator and DC executive editor Ben Abernathy to discuss what’s happened in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths up until now and the exciting things to come, including a Super Swamp Thing! All 1,000 fans in attendance at today’s Dark Crisis panel received a convention exclusive enamel pin of Darkseid.
“We’ve kept the real name a secret from the start because we didn’t want to give away what was happening in the middle of the story, with the return of the Infinite Earths,” said writer Joshua Williamson.
“It means so much to me to be able to be involved in creating a sequel to Crisis on Infinite Earths. It really is an honor and a dream come true for any comic book fan,” said artist Daniel Sampere. “Over the next few issues, fans can expect a big action explosion, with lots of epic, huge battles and a lot of emotion and surprises.”
It was also revealed that the first three issues of the Dark Crisis arc will be returning to the printers with updated cover art featuring the full name.
