Review
From time to time my job as a review lends me the opportunity to look at an exciting new title. The Dark Room is an eerily dark tale about a young female scavenger or explorer in the vein of Lara Croft but darker. Much, much darker.
The story quickly takes a dark turn as the search for the cursed camera ambles along. But it isn’t just our lead who is after this camera. There are many more darker threats out there that will stop at nothing to get the camera and its dark undeveloped image. Doune must go back to her roots and back to her contacts that are shall we say not from this earth or even life.
Gerry Duggan has written a story arc that delves deep into the darkest part of a whole different relm. The arc is expertly written captivating the conscious of the reader’s mind and taking them on a dark journey full of suspense and discovery, think of it as a darker sister of Lara Croft then you’ll be somewhere close.
The illustrations of the book had to be dark and they have chosen one of the best in the business, Scott Buoncristiano brings a delightfully dark slant to the artwork with incredible graphic detail that makes the story come to life with a perfect mix of dark tones and bold colours that will trigger your imagination and take your mind on a dark journey
Verdict
Take a dark journey in to an already dark world. This story has more twists than a race track and will keep you guessing.
