Dark Crisis #1 is published by DC Comics, written by Joshua Williamson and illustrated by Daniel Sampere.

Issue #1 is available 7th June 2022 either directly from DC Comics online or from your local comic book store, digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

Crisis on Infinite Earths. Infinite Crisis. Final Crisis. And now…Dark Crisis! The epic event years in the making is finally here! Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and the rest of the Justice League are dead. The remaining heroes are left to protect the world from an onslaught of violent attacks by DC’s greatest villains! Can the legacy heroes step out of the shadows of the classic heroes to form a new Justice League? And will that be enough to stop a darkness greater than anything they’ve ever faced from destroying everything? Don’t miss out on the first issue of the blockbuster event of the summer!

    Review

This first issue of Dark Crisis sees the beginning of a new story arc that is taking the DC World forward. The Justice League has been eliminated and now the villains of the world know this the crime rate is through the roof it’s time for a new breed of hero to step forward and create a new Justice League. Now is the time for Jonathon Kent to step out of the shadows of his father and prove he’s worthy of the iconic Krypton symbol, a symbol for decades that has stood for hope and that is something that Jonathon must take forward.

Creating a new super group isn’t going to be easy and it will likely take everything Jonathon has to pull it off, time isn’t a luxury he has as calm and order needs to be restored on earth a threat is looming a threat that is bigger than anything seen before, this could be the event that reshapes the DC Universe forever.

Joshua Williamson for me never fails to deliver the stories on an epic scale and the biggest event in comics certainly needs a writer that would be capable of writing such an epic tale and Joshua supplies that with ease, I read this issue in one sitting as soon as you read the first page you are taken on an intense action packed thrill ride that will leave you blown away.

The illustrations are taken to epic levels with the natural talent of Daniel Sampere bringing his unique style to the illustrations providing artwork that reflects the story well and allows it to become elevated to the next level with illustrations that add depth and brings the reader directly into the action creating an experience like no other.

    Verdict

The comic event comic reader have been patiently waiting to see, this has been years in the making. It certainly does not disappoint. A truly epic event begins right here.
