Are you ready for a completely new take on one of the most iconic alien narratives in cinema. We don’t think you’re ready for Prey. The Predator franchise has had a shakey history… But, Dan Trachtenberg seems to have an ace up his sleeve that may give Predator fans an entirely new experience.
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
The Predator will be on the hunt exclusively on Hulu from August 5th. With that in mind, Prey could stream here in the UK via Disney+ Star.
Prey is directed by Dan Trachtenberg, written by Patrick Aison. The prequel will be produced by John Davis and Jhane Myers, with Lawrence Gordon, Marty Ewing, James E. Thomas, John C. Thomas and Marc Toberoff serving as executive producers.
In order to commit and create a believeable and accurate portrayal of the Comanche, Jhane Myers’ expertise and dedication to authenticity surrounding the Comanche and Blackfeet nations was implemented. As a result, the film features a cast comprised almost entirely of Native and First Nation’s talent. The cast includes Amber Midthunder, newcomer Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, Julian Black Antelope.
