Synopsis
SOUL CRUSHER proves to be a much bigger threat to the team than they initially thought when he turns out to be part of a network of individuals determined to bring them all down. But will opposing ideals and motivations bring an end of the Scorched before Soul Crusher has a chance to?
Review
In this issue the situation is really beginning to heat up for the Scorched as the Sin Devourer tries to take down the team by extracting their energy and with it their powers, this machine hybrid can’t be successful for if he is the planet as we know it is under threat, heaven and hell and everything in between will be annihilated and a new “Eden” shall be formed.
Are the Scorched strong enough to take this fight on? I think Medieval Spawn has something to say about that. As we say goodbye to a certain character (no spoilers) we find out the Sin Devourer is being controlled, but by who? And why? Soul Crusher could well hold the answer, but will he reveal?
Sean Lewis for me captures what I would want in a comic, as a series The Scorched has everything suspense, intrigue and action plenty of action. You have a sense that the series is building up towards an epic conclusion that part of me can’t wait to see but the other part of me doesn’t want this story to end.
The illustrations from Stephen Segovia are as “Spawn” as they could be, perfectly capturing what any Spawn fan is looking for dark atmospheric scenes with plenty of gorey detail. This series continues to mesmerise and long may it continue, a creative masterclass.
Verdict
A close to comic book perfection as one can imagine. The story and artwork work in tandem to deliver another issue which blew my mind.
