Review
In this issue we see the continuation of the Shadow War arc that sees Deathstroke on the run from Talia and her Deathsquad sent to avenge her father’s death. Deathstroke is still claiming his innocence but he needs to prove he has been framed, but how? Deathstroke and Respawn must lay low until the smoke clears, but that will be easier said than done with the bounty on their heads and Robin is also seeking his own revenge.
Batman is on the heels of Deathstroke seeking his own answers but also trying to stop his son from doing anything stupid. Could this be a fight too much for Deathstroke? Can he prove his innocence in time? and will we unmask the imposter Deathstroke? So many questions to answer, hopefully the next installment will reveal some answers.
This Shadow War has been an intriguing story of intense action and mystery, Joshua Williamson has continued to write an arc that makes you feel every word, each page builds up the tension that makes you not want to put the book down, breathtaking writing from the start. The story deserves illustrations that not only matches the intense story but even intensifies it further and that’s what Paolo Pantalena has done each page serves as a visual enhancement of the story, each page filled with dramatic tones and vold colours that gives that almost hypnotic effect and draws you deeper in the book.
Verdict
Creatively perfect, simply put this arc is incredible and has the potential to rock the DC world to it’s core. The writing is heart racing and the illustrations hypnotic.
The Shadow War arc continues in Robin #13, also released this week.
