Moving on from that huge season 2 cliffhanger, it seems that things are about to get (a little) serious on Star Trek: Lower Decks. Over the weekend, a brand new teaser for the upcoming third season premiered at the Star Trek Mission Chicago convention alongside a panel featuring cast and crew from the show.
The teaser (below) features voices from across the cast postulating on what happens next after the arrest of Captain Freeman (Dawnn Lewis). A new official synopsis for season 3 reads:
Season three of Star Trek: Lower Decks challenges the U.S.S. Cerritos ensigns in (hilarious) ways they could never imagine, starting with a shocking resolution for season two’s epic cliffhanger finale.
Check out the teaser in the tweet below:
It was confirmed that the series will return in 2022 but no release date has been confirmed, as yet. Previous seasons have debuted in the summer but we’ll have to watch this space to see when the show will return to Paramount+.
As well as the brand new teaser, we got also got a look at a new poster for the third season. We’re intrigued by the inclusion of an Exocomp lurking at the centre of the broken Starfleet insignia. Could Peanut Hamper be about to return after abandoning the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos in the season 1 finale?
Created by Rick & Morty writer Mike McHMahan, Star Trek: Lower Decks features the voices of Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells and Eugene Cordero as the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Star Trek: Lower Decks are available to stream now on Prime Video.
