Review
In this issue we see the continuation of the introduction of the new Rogue Sun as Dylan struggles to come to terms with his new powers and his ego. The pressure of taking on the mantel of Rogue Sun is already beginning to take it’s toll on Dylan, who never really asked for this but he was chosen by his late father who’s ghost is present to help the transition and to help Dylan take it forward, however old enemies are beginning to surface and these enemies have a grudge to bear, Dylan will need to get to grips with his powers and quickly.
Being a fan of Ryan Parrott’s work with the Power Rangers multiverse I kind of had a good idea of what I expected coming into this new series and so far I haven’t been disappointed. Ryan has written a new hero story arc within the world of Radiant Black which is getting stronger by the issue, the story isn’t just about the action which is definitely there, it also has a deep underlying emotional story of family feuds and teenage agnst.
The illustrations of Rogue Sun are what you’d expect a superhero comic to be, colourful and vibrant with a good level of detail, Abel has created a visual masterpiece taking the reader deep with the story making them feel part of the world.
For me this issue takes the Rogue Sun story further and does a great job at elaborating on the story of Dylan and building the backstory of this new hero, which will make the end product far more relatable in the long term.
Verdict
A great world-building issue for Dylan, developing him in to a more relatable character. With the creative team behind this book I have no doubt this series will go on to greatness.
