Basilisk #7 is published by BOOM! Studios, written by Cullen Bunn, illustrated by Jonas Scharf, coloured by Alex Guimarães and lettered by Ed Dukeshire.

Print copies are available from 2nd February 2022 either directly from Boom! Studios or from your local comic book store. Digital copies will be available to download from the usual content providers.

    Synopsis

With her car wrecked, Hannah is inconsolable after experiencing traumatic flashbacks, and on the run from Jimmy-Boy, who is dangerously close to ending her. Vanessa obtains unexpected power, but wants more, and is even willing to kill those close to her to get it…

    Review

For fans of the series you’re in for a treat as for me personally this issue was by far the best of the series so far, the most gripping and harrowing I have read from the series as the cat and mouse chase we’ve had throughout the arc begins to become dark and very nasty.

Taking on the Crimea is like taking on the impossible task, they are evil in the truest sense of the word and going up against them to take them down certainly isn’t a task for the faint of heart. Hannah is determined to finish the evil cult one way or another but it’s taking it’s tole on her mental state with harrowing flashbacks haunting her every second. This issue is hard hitting and graphic, certainly one for the horror fans out there in comic land.

Cullen Bunn knows horror and it shows in this series, a story arc that continues to expand and grow with every issue bringing an excitement to reading I never thought you could get. Basilisk is a hard hitting story arc that hold no punches but in the same sense feels relatable and never loses context.

The illustrations are again unique in style to this series with Jonas Scharf ‘s illustrations combining with Alex Guimarães’s colouring to bring together a hauntingly realistic read that captures your darkest imagination and takes you on a journey like no other. As a series this strong I am full of excitement for it’s continuation in the next issue.

    Verdict

A gripping and through provoking story which has absolutely blown my mind. The illustration will chill you to your very bones.
