Review
The Stray Dogs series is a slightly different take on the usual thriller stories you see written this set of stories gives you the angle from the perspective of the dogs that live inside the Master’s house.
Taking an off shoot from the main story arc of Stray Dogs, Dog Days gives us a more detailed look at the dogs involved, telling us the readers a deeper story of each of the dogs giving us a better understanding of how they ended up in this situation. Using dogs to lure in his victims the mysterious character The Master has his patter down to a fine art as he meets his potential victims on walks.
For any dog owners (like myself) you will find this an emotional ride that will pull on your very heart strings as you see the effects that The Master has on the dogs involved. Each dog gets a story of their own with you willing each one to escape or come out the other side, there are surprises lurking around every corner in this book guaranteed to keep you hooked until the end, two issues doesn’t seem enough but I’m glad they aren’t stretching it out too far.
As I have previously stated I haven’t read too much from Tony Fleecs but these last two issues I have read have given me a good introduction to his work and so far I am very impressed with what I’ve have seen, a book that offers a mix of emotions as well as gripping your attention throughout, a sign of a good writer is leaving you wanting more at the end.
The illustrations from Trish Forstner were dark and sinister but also deep and meaningful at the same time, really highlights the emotion that Tony is trying to portray in his writing.
Verdict
A unique concept and different approach to storytelling make this a new and interesting take on the thriller genre.
