Synopsis
Regionaire’s team of villains makes its move and lays siege to Frontiersman’s camp. There’s no place to run for our aging hero—only a life-and-death battle! A violent, dramatic, action-heavy end to our first arc!
Review
As I have said in previous reviews Frontiersman is one series that has completely surprised me as I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I have done, from the off it has always felt something different, something out of my normal comfort zone but as the arc has progressed so had the story which has developed into an action packed, even at times slightly raunchy, adventure which is getting me more and more intrigued.
In this issue we see that Frontiersman is no longer able to sit out a peaceful protest to help the cause, the past is slowly coming back to haunt our reluctant hero. Regionaire is hell bent on revenge sending his henchmen one by one to the past is being recreated before our eyes.
A cross dimensional battle plays out on the very treetop that Frontiersman is trying to save, I don’t really think he was expecting to be saving it from this threat though. Can Frontiersman hold off the barrage of enemies or is there still enough fight left in the old dog yet?
As a writer Patrick Kindlon has impressed me with his writing skills, providing a balanced story that has emotional heart warming moments alongside comedic anecdotes that kept you smiling throughout, all mixed in with some epic battles all giving the reader a full blown entertaining experience.
Marco Ferrari has done a fantastic job with the illustrations in this issue as the striking detail comes across through the battle scenes that build on the story that has been written, taking the reader’s imagination and blowing it out of the water.
Verdict
Overall I found Frontiersman a pleasure to read throughout this arc, although at first I wasn’t sure I can safely say that thanks to the creative team involved I definitely have changed my mind and I am looking forward to see where we go with the next arc.
