This morning we have some exciting news to spice up the long wait for new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery. Late last night Paramount+ announced a number of renewals and returns across the brand including the exciting news that Discovery has been picked up for a fifth season.
The series last aired on December 30 with it’s mid-season finale, “But To Connect”. Paramount has now reiterated that the series will return on February 10, 2022 with the eight episode of season four. From there it’s expected the season will run through to its conclusion.
This news should come as no surprise given that Discovery remains the number one show streamed on Paramount+. As yet there has been no confirmation of how many episodes there are in season four but the studio has given us details on the episode order for season 5. When the show returns it will be for ten episodes, bringing it in line with both Star Trek: Picard and the soon t premiere Strange New Worlds.
Speaking of which… Paramount also confirmed that the Anson Mount fronted series will officially premiere on May 5, 2022. In announcing the premiere date the studio also confirmed something which we have known for some time, the series has also been renewed for season 2.
The second season is expected to being production next month in Toronto, Canada. As yet we don’t know where Strange New Worlds will air in the UK but an announcement on the debut of Paramount+ is expected any day now.
