Review
What is turning into one of my surprise packages of the year Magic is turning into one of my go to comic series, what started off as quite a slow burning story now has ramped up the action into a suspense filled action packed read.
This issue sees a new character entering the arc as Tezzeret is introduced bringing with him vital information for the Planeswalkers that could answer the question as to why Jace Beleren was attacked, but to what cost? Can Tezzeret really be trusted? In what was once a peaceful part of the universe filled with solitude Ravinca is now a war torn battlefield that seems to be falling apart brick by brick. What will this mean for the MTG multiverse? I’ve got a feeling things are about to change.
Jed Mackay once again brings a story that keeps you glued to the pages, the story arc is taking a darker turn with each issue and it’s starting to feel more authentic to the MTG universe. Ig Guara brings to life the multiverse with eye catching illustrations, dark and dramatic tones are used to drive the atmospheric feel of the story to the reader giving a true sense of how the story should feel.
At first I found the Magic series a bit difficult to get into but the more I persevered with the series it became more enjoyable and now it is looking like we are getting a multiverse maybe taking the story in a more diverse way and I am definitely looking forward to that.
Verdict
At the moment Magic is definitely one of the series I am looking out for on release, it has everything action, fantasy and suspense all blended in together and it fully works, I am excited to see where Jed Mackay and the rest of the creative team are going to take this arc.
