James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is out on DVD and Blu-ray today. However, that isn’t the news that we are celebrating today. Director James Gunn has confirmed that the third installment of Guardians of the Galaxy, currently titled Vol. 3, has officially entered production. From today, the cast and crew will be gearing up for another outlandish advenutre.
The director took to social media with a surprisingly touching post to announce the exciting news. Here’s what Gunn had to say:
“It’s been a strange & long & at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful. Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting #gotgvol3”

The incredibly sweet image features Gunn and the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy (minus Bradley Cooper) includ & Vin Diesel) ing newcomer Will Poulter who is set to play Adam Warlock. The arrival of Warlock was teased at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. However, as Gunn has explained the road to Vol 3. has been an incredibly long one. Remember of course, that information regarding the supposed final installment was revealed back in 2017. Since Gunn’s rehiring, it’s hard to tell whether the story will remain the same.
With Vol. 3 in production, it won’t be long before we start receiving some small teases here and there. Although, with this third film supposedly marking the end of the Guardians the cast and crew may be sworn to secrecy. Regardless, keep your eyes peel for any exciting developments.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to be released in theaters on May 5th, 2023. Are you excited for the return of Star Lord and his crew? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
