Review
Time for something a little different for me. A change from my usual fare but an intriguing on all the same. I’m a huge fan of old cop shows and films so Destroy All Monsters definitely piqued my interest. The concept certainly ticks a lot of boxes for me so I was eager to dive in.
The narrative is told from the perspective of Ethan, our leading man, as he embarks on another case with longtime crime solving partner Anna. This time it’s the strangest case yet, interweaving themes of political corruption and vengeful murder. There are different trails for the crime fighting pair to follow and, without spoiling too much, there’s one awesome twist which you will never see coming!
Hardcore Ed Brubaker fans are definitely in for a treat. This was my first time reading his work but I will definitely be looking out for more. Brubaker’s writing style grabbed me instantly and I was hooked from beginning to end. The intricately woven storylines make for an unmissable story which is difficult to put down.
Jacob and Sean Phillips’ dramatic art style brings a deep, dark tone which runs throughout the story enhancing the works and really driving home just how compelling the book is.
Verdict
If you’re into crime drama or a bit of mystery then this is definitely a series you need to be checking out, a strong creative team have brought together an unmissable read.
