Warner Bros. WONKA Prequel Adds Three More To Its Cast

Warner Bros. has confirmed that production is now underway Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel, Wonka.

The celebrate the news the studio, via THR, has confirmed that Sally Hawkins, Olivia Coleman and Rowan Atkinson are all joining the cast. Details on their characters are yet to be revealed.

The movie is headlined by Timothée Chalamet as Willy Wonka and is set to explore the “vivid, mythical beginnings of the imaginative young inventor before he becomes the renowned scrumdiddlyumptious Mozart of chocolate.” As with most Chocolate Factory adaptions, Wonka will be a musical extravaganza with The Divine Comedy’s Neil Hannon writing original songs.

Wonka is being directed by Paul King who reunited with plenty of cast members from both of his Paddington films. Also starring in Wonka are Tom Davis, Simoon Farnaby, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Mathew Baynton, Jim Carter, and Rich Fulcher.

No release date for the film has been set, as yet.
