Attack on Titan fans have been both eagerly awaiting and dreading the day that this anime comes to an end.
Hajime Isayama, author of this modern anime classic, finished the manga in April 2021 which caused some controversy and split fans down the middle of whether to like or dislike the conclusion. However, there was no denying that no matter the ending, Attack on Titan is an anime of epic proportions, regarded by some as one of the best anime of our time!
So, it should come as no surprise that the fans are finally satisfied that Season 4 Part 2, the final season and arc to the anime, has been announced for January 2022.
“Attack on Titan The Final Season” Part 2 will begin it’s broadcast with episode 76 – titled “Condemnation” – and will be broadcast on NHK General TV. Before the new broadcast, there will be a special omnibus that looks back on the progress so far, plus an original animation (OAD) that talks from the perspectives of Levi, Annie, Mikasa etc.
Upon the announcement, Director Yuichiro Hayashi says “…we are finally approaching the climax. We are also taking on many new challenges in terms of images. How that scene will be visualized … Please look forward to it!” That scene likely refers to the preview image seen above, we won’t give anything away but if MAPPA, the animation studios behind the production of Season 4, can pull the scene off it will be nothing short of extraordinary!
Yuki Kaji, voice actor of protagonist Eren Yeager, only had this to say during the announcement;
“If you don’t fight, you can’t win.”
