We never really expected the world of Chess to collide so brilliantly with Transformers. But here we are… Talking about a Chess set inspired by the heroic Autobots and villainous Decepticons. Now, we may not know how to play Chess- even The Queens Gambit didn’t help- but this Transformers set may be the one that gets us playing. Lets just say that there is more to this Chess set than meets the eye.
So what is it? Well, it’s a kickstarter. A kickstarter that wen’t live just a few days ago. In order to make this vision a reality, it needs support. Backers can choose from a range of gifts when supporting this project. You can select a pin bange, a singular chess piece, or the entire thing.
There are currently three different tiers that you can back:
$600 tier– The complete set comes with 32 chess pieces, the exclusive chessboard, the pin badge, and a 272-paged character guide.
$650 tier– In addition to everything listed above you’ll get your hands on an exclusive replacement king piece which will take the form of Galvatron. In the images he is currently unpained but he will come hand painted once the project is ready to ship.
$700 tier– This final tier will include everything listed above, including Galavtron, but will come with a second replacement king. Rodimus Prime wielding the Matrix of Leadership will serve as a new king that can replace Optimus Prime… Sounds familiar doesn’t it?
This epic Chess set will allow fans to put the Autobots up against the Decepticons in a brand new way. 16 vs 16 in a war that is all about brains rather than firepower. So who are our 32 combatants? The list is absolutely wonderful and we can’t wait to see more of the pieces.
