Over the last few months we’ve had tidbits of information about Paramount Pictures‘ plans for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The studio has been vocal in development on a new animated movie with producer Seth Rogen. But now it seems there’s even more plans for the Heroes in a Half Shell

Now a new report from Deadline has shed light on just how important the TMNT property is. The report claims that IP is incredibly important to the studio and a high priority to bring back to the big screen.

It’s understood the studio has tapped Emmy nominated Saturday Night Live writer Colin Jost, along with his brother Casey, to pen a new live-action film starting Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo and Raphael.

Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, Scott Mednick and Galen Walker are on board as producers. Bringing back much of the producing team behind the 2014 film which went on to gross $485M globally. A sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, released in 2016.

Colin Jost has been key to the success of SNL having joined the writing staff in 2005. He is also co-writing Worst Man for Universal, which he will also star in along with his SNL co-star Pete Davidson. He recently starred in Tom & Jerry and will be back for SNL this season.
