Breaking news from Deadline tonight as it has been revealed that Marvel Studios has finally found a director for its Blade movie. After months of meeting with talent from across the industry, Kevin Feige and co. has signed up Mogul Mowgli director Bassam Tariq to helm the project.
The trade understands that Feige and star Mahershala Ali met with dozen of potential candidates to take on this latest version of the vampire hunter. At one stage the studio was said to be looking for a writer/director to take on the project before landing on a screenplay from Stacy Osei-Kuffour.
Blade will mark the MCU’s first foray in to the dark side of the supernatural and comes as Sony Pictures’ so-called Spider-Verse begins its own exploration with 2022’s Morbius.
Blade doesn’t currently have a release date.
