Review
The much anticipated next installment of the Mighty Morphin story is here, #9 brings more excitement to Angel Grove as its residents try to get back to some sort of normality.
The story begins a long time ago (10,000 years ago to be precise) with Zartus casting a protective spell on the Zeo Crystal to protect it from the Dark Spector and helping the universe for generations to come. You get the feeling that this back story will be integral to the main story arc at a future point.
As the story continues we fast forward to modern day Angel Grove with residents and Rangers attempting to get some normality back, but there is an overall feeling that something just isn’t quite right and the undertone that something is looming.
Parrott writes the story in a way that makes you take note of everything and keeps you thinking about what you have previously seen keeping the reader engrossed from the moment they hit the first page. Once again the artistic talents of Renna comes to the forefront as the detail on every page is immense, I particularly liked the illustrations of the first couple of pages when they were in the flashback using the blue colours and dark tones really gave it that magical feel.
I am fully invested in the different stories of the Power Rangers, the Mighty Morphin arc is my particular favorite and it is one that I am excited to see where the creative team is going to take it, I have a strong suspicion that there is going to be a big twist in this tale.
Verdict
Once again a full on read from start to finish with a deep story and some decent action to keep you going. I am looking forward to see what will happen in the next issue.
