It sounds like Matt Reeves The Batman is heading back to Glasgow in July for one week of additional photography.
A new report in the Scottish Daily Record newspaper claims that the Warner Bros. production will return to the Necropolis again and also to Merchant City for what is expected to be additional stunt work with stars Robert Pattinson and Colin Farrell.
It is then understood that production will move to York for further exterior work. Having been stopped more than once due to Covid-19, The Batman recreated many interiors on soundstages. Perhaps Matt Reeves is now taking the opportunity to return to the original locations to complete filming in a more natural environment?
“There’s been a lot of hype about the film following the initial filming in Scotland in February and the crew are looking forward to coming back in mid-July, although it wasn’t an expected trip. It’s expected to be mainly re-shoots being done, probably of some of the stunt scenes.” said a source close to the Glasgow filming.
Before anybody jumps to dire conclusions, it is in no way unusual for a Hollywood blockbuster to undergo reshoots. From short pickup shots to big scale additional scenes, plenty of successful movies have undergone these final tweaks.
Written and directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is set to star Robert Pattinson in the title role, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Paul Dano as Edward Nashton.
The film is currently slated to hit cinemas on March 4, 2022.
